CITRIX UPDATES TO APPS & DESKTOPS 7 2407 & CLOUD.

Citrix has announced the general availability of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 2407, featuring enhancements that offer greater flexibility, simplification, and security across its platform. The updates are strategically aligned with four key areas: Operational and Cost Efficiency, Workload and Device Flexibility, Security and Compliance, and Employee Experience Technology.

Operational and Cost Efficiency

To control Cloud costs and simply deployment Citrix has included the following features: 

• Azure Hibernation with Autoscale – Citrix introduces a effective way of controlling Cloud computing costs by allowing organization to pause VMs that are not in use – greatly reducing costs (Watch Video)
• Conditional Authentication,
• Citrix DaaS for Amazon Workspaces Core
• Conditional Authentication 
  • Citrix has launched Conditional Authentication, enabling organizations to choose their preferred authentication method based on specific conditions.
    • Citrix Workspace URL,
    • User domain, and
    • User group natively within the Citrix Cloud console
    • Ultimately simplifying the configuration multiple authentication options for your users. (Detailed Information click here)
• Citrix DaaS for AWS Workspace Core (Tech Preview) Citrix is continuously looking at new and innovative solutions across all major Cloud providers and is currently working on Citrix DaaS for Amazon WorkSpaces Core. Briefly the solution will offer:
  • Simplify the rapid deployment for both Cloud hosted and On Premises resources
  • Increase cost savings features included with Citrix like Autoscale, the ITSM adapter for ServiceNow, and more.

XenServer Automated Updates 

• In short Citrix will deliver XenSrver updates every three weeks as apposed tp every quarter thus increasing the speed and efficiency of security updates and new feature releases:

Increasing workload and device flexibility

Provides clients with the option to select the solution that best fits their specific needs and offers device flexibility, accommodating all forms of device usage.

• Citric VDA for Mac OS - which now can be used with Citrix DaaS and Desktop 2407 (Watch Video)
• Modern Windows App Support – Example with the release of Microsoft Teams 2.0 Citric have released a patch update to the Current Release so you can install the new Teams and Outlook into the app layer.

Security and Compliance

 Features include: 

• Secure HDX - true end-to-end application-level encryption regardless of network level encryption.
• Citrix Enterprise Browser -: PII redacting, cache and download encryption, and clipboard container
• Citrix Secure Private Access: Discover embedded URLs and resultant policy modelling
  

Employee Experience Technology

Citrix is enhancing security solutions and is equally committed to elevating the overall user experience. This includes advancements in audio, visual, and access capabilities, alongside improved administrative controls. The company is introducing new features that encompass:

• HDX Audio Packet Loss Concealment (Tech Preview) – primary aim is to compensate for loss of audio in communication and reconstruct speech using previous examples
• Improve call quality across VoIP, Live stream, webinars and remote meetings

Citrix Workspace app updates - offering flexibility in the delivery of resources to employees for the following:

• Workspace app for Windows
• Mac, Linux and Android
•  iOS and Chrome OS

 Citrix Workspace App mobile enhancements include: 

• Android
  • FIDO 2 Authentication for Cloud Store connections
  • Tech preview for SSO for Microsoft Entra ID-joined VMs
  • Document Scanner for Android
• iOS
  • FIDO 2 Authentication for Cloud Store connections
  • Tech preview for SSO for Microsoft Entra ID-joined VMs
  • Document Scanner for iOS

Global App Configuration Service user groups- new features:

• Centrally manage end user’s Citrix client experience. 
• Configure Citrix experiences across user groups such as managed device users, BYO device users, or by operating systems. 
• Introduction of user group support, administrators can now tailor settings differently for various user personas based on their Active Directory (AD) or Azure Active Directory (AAD) groups.
